Recently I was in search of a small pack to use as my EDC bag. I looked at quite a few different designs and companies. I happen to see the Fieldline Tactical bag at Wal-Mart, yes I said Wal-Mart. I figured why not try it, it’s cheap enough. I took it home, opened it up and I must say I really like the way the individual pockets are configured and it even has a built-in hydration bladder pouch. There is MOLLE webbing on the pack in a few places and plenty of other attachment points. One other feature I really likes is it has straps everywhere to synch the pack in nice and tight.
Even with the single sling, the pack is very comfortable to hike with. I expected it to be bouncing around but it definitely wasn’t the case. It even has a quick release buckle on the strap to make it easier to take on and off and the main compression strap on the outside of the pack made it very easy to attach my med kit without taking up room in the bag. The added bonus to this is I can just reach back and pull the kit out with little effort. The bag can also be swung around to the front so you can access the pack without removing it. Being a smaller bag (17.5″x9″x6.5″), you certainly can’t bring a ton of gear, but for back and forth to work, hiking, and just basic everyday life I really like this pack. It’s light, durable, has ample room, plenty of points to secure gear and best of all…. It is inexpensive! ($34.95 on Amazon).
